Course Objectives
Arthropod-borne infections are caused by a variety of bacterial and viral agents, many of which are considered as emerging pathogens. The diagnosis of these infections is often delayed as their clinical presentations are diverse and few microbiology laboratories throughout Europe are able to detect and identify these pathogens. This course will teach the participants the various diagnostic aspects of arthropod-borne diseases, including cell culture, molecular detection, MALDI-TOF MS identification, serology, arthropod identification as well as updates on arthropod-borne infections by skilled experts. Lectures presenting state-of-the-art diagnosis and management of these infections will be followed by practical sessions in groups of 5 persons.
